Contemporary International and Canadian partner Aeroguard were selected by Public Works & Government Services Canada to provide Games Security Screening Services to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

The project partnership, Contemporary Security Canada (CSC), was responsible for all aspects of planning and operational delivery for pedestrian screening areas and secure perimeter operations; which included magnetometer, X-ray, materials transfer and occupant screening operations across all VANOC competition and non-competition venues.

The project team began work in April 2009, a short 9 months before operations were to commence in January 2010. In June the company began a recruitment campaign which was to culminate in the hiring of 200 central project staff and over 5000 venue security personnel who represented the full range of Canada’s diverse population, including indigenous groups. CI’s project team succeeded in a mammoth task which included comprehensive job-specific training, the design, manufacture and distribution of uniforms and provision of a temporary accommodation camp which was built in Whistler for staff working at snow-sport venues. The project also required a comprehensive transport program to move staff between accommodation sites and venues.  The Games-time delivery of this complex project, which mobilized the largest private security workforce in Canada across multiple venues, was achieved by skilled management and a sophisticated Command & Control system.
