As a result of our success in Atlanta 1996, Contemporary International was awarded the contract for planning and managing Spectator Services, which SOCOG created as a new functional area, independent, yet still closely tied to Venue Management.

Our responsibilities covered end-to-end planning and management of Spectator Services across 34 venues, working with 105 Management Personnel and 14,000 staff and volunteers. Over a three-year period, CI developed and managed the SPS project plan, pedestrian flow modelling/crowd management analysis, public information, Guide to the Games, call centre operation, mentoring & development of local managers, workforce training, and several other areas of integration. We were responsible for full delivery of standard services for spectators - ushering, ticket taking, marshalling, public information, accreditation checks and accessibility support. Spectator Services’ planning included all Sydney 2000 competition venues, common domains, and City live sites.

In Sydney, Contemporary International was also involved in Event Security Service initiatives outside the Olympic arena. Some of the events and venues included The Royal Easter Show, Stadium Australia, Sydney Football Stadium and the Australian Film Awards.
